Overhead people counters are one of the simplest and most effective methods of people counting. Installing overhead people counters above entrances and exits to rooms makes it easy to keep a running total of how many people occupy that space. Our overhead people counters provide access to detailed occupancy data at a fraction of the cost of other people-counting technologies such as RFID or camera-based systems.

Terabee offers two different overhead people counters to cater to all applications: the People Counting L-XL and the smaller People Counting M. Both of our overhead people counter devices rely on Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology: by emitting pulses of infrared light and timing how long it takes for different parts of the pulse to reflect to a sensor, our overhead people counters build a 3D “picture” of the walkway below.

Onboard processing enables our overhead people counters to extract accurate (95% or higher) people counting data while maintaining complete anonymity – making them the perfect low-cost people-counting solution for workplaces and public premises.

TheTerabee People Counting L-XL and Terabee People Counting M overhead people counters can be installed in minutes, are easily configured from any web-enabled device, and can communicate people counting data seamlessly via ethernet or WiFi.

People Counting L-XL

The People Counting L-XL is our largest overhead people counter, but – weighing just 220g and measuring around the same size as a fire alarm – it’s still discrete and lightweight enough to suit a vast range of applications. (1)

Using our proprietary T-o-F technology, the People Counting L-XL device filters out static objects and tracks human traffic across its field of view. Our onboard processing delivers reliable people-counting even in heavy bi-directional traffic.

Because it relies on active infrared sensing, the People Counter L-XL overhead people counter remains effective in low-light conditions. In addition, because the infrared sensor doesn’t capture any identifying information, the People Counting L-XL device is intrinsically anonymous and GDPR-compliant by design.

On its own, the Terabee People Counter L-XL provides coverage of an area of 1.50 m x 1.10 m when installed at a height of 2.40 m.

To cover wider doorways, up to five People Counting L-XL devices can be networked together, enabling accurate people counting even across extra-wide entrance ways with complex traffic flow.

People Counting M

The People Counting M is our smaller overhead people counter, tailored to applications where other people counting methods may be prohibitive due to their cost. 85 mm in diameter and just 32 mm high, the People Counting M device can be easily mounted even in the tightest of spaces.

Featuring the same T-o-F technology as the larger People Counting L-XL device, the Terabee People Counting M is the perfect overhead people counter for narrow walkways and single entrance and exits. (2) Like the People Counting L-XL device, the People Counting M is a fully GDPR-compliant overhead people counter.

Covering an area of 0.8 m x 0.8 m when installed at a height of 3 m, the People Counting M is the ideal overhead people counter for monitoring washrooms, meeting rooms, escalators and other entrances and exits.
