The problem
A national chain of furniture stores sought to provide added value to their franchisees, giving them a way to optimize customer experience and store performance through access to accurate customer visitor data.
The primary aim was to give the store managers a better understanding of customer visitor trends and a clear view of the customer visits/revenue ratio.
Secondly, specifically for stores located within shopping malls that have extended opening hours, another objective was to be able to allocate staffing resources based on demand. This serves to make the most of the customer experience and optimize personnel costs.
The solution
Terabee provided bi-directional, high-accuracy and GDPR-complaint-by-design People Counting L-XL devices to monitor the entrances and exits of the stores.
More than 30 stores have been equipped and the number is growing as the franchise expands.
Terabee assisted the company’s IT department with integrating the People Counters into their system.
The counters transmit people counting data directly from the shops, via the Internet to an MQTT broker located at the company headquarters.
The data is then fed into an Enterprise resource planning (ERP) tool, allowing instant information access for store managers and the company headquarters.
Impressions of the Terabee technology
The counting precision, coupled with the GDPR-compliant-by-design architecture, is a perfect fit for the stores and the respect of customers’ privacy.
From an IT perspective, the MQTT communication protocol is a standard that the company’s engineers could integrate in their ERP system without difficulty.
Once implemented, the solution operates smoothly. Having this People Counting data is greatly helping the stores’ sales operations.
Terabee’s Team have helped with the integration into the customer’s ERP and they have provided excellent support to ensure that the first deployments went smoothly.
